Cargotor has applied for a 50% subsidy for the construction of the Małaszewicze Logistics Park

Cargotor, a company from the PKP Cargo group, planned to be sold to PKP PLK - submitted an application to the European Executive Agency for Climate, Infrastructure and Environment (CINEA) for co-financing the construction of the Małaszewicze Logistics Park from the CEF fund 2, reported the Ministry of Infrastructure (Ministry of Infrastructure). The estimated cost of the investment is PLN 3.2 billion, and the co-financing share is 50%.

The Małaszewicze Logistics Park will be entirely financed from public funds, including co-financing from European Union funds. The estimated cost of the investment is PLN 3.2 billion. Due to the cross-border nature of the project, Cargotor is applying for funding from the CEF 2 fund, which amounts to 50 The commencement of construction works is scheduled for 2023, according to its announcement.

The project includes comprehensive modernization and expansion of the railway infrastructure. The track renovation will allow for the reception of 1,050 m long trains for the 1,520 mm standard and 750 m for the 1,435 mm standard. The speed of trains will also increase - from 20 to 40 km / h. All this will make the importance of the Małaszewicze Logistics Park as one of the most important transhipment points in Europe even more grow, and will also contribute to an increase in the revenues of the state treasury and the Polish economy, emphasizes the ministry.

"Preparatory works for the modernization of the railway infrastructure in the Małaszewicze Transshipment Region have been completed. This is a milestone and an important event. The Cargotor company, which is implementing the project, is applying for EU funding for the construction works. We are determined to implement this investment, as Poland should reap the benefits from its unique geopolitical position "- added Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Andrzej Bittel, quoted in the material.

The ministry informs that preparations for the implementation of the Cargotor project are proceeding in accordance with the adopted schedule. Before submitting the application, the company completed work related to the preparation of a feasibility study, preparation of project documentation and obtaining administrative permits necessary for the implementation of this investment.

The government has already started legislative work on the draft act amending the act on commercialization and restructuring of the Polish State Railways state-owned enterprise and the act on the Railway Fund.

The list of legislative and program works of the Council of Ministers shows that the government is planning adoption of a project that is to enable the creation of a legal framework for the modernization of railway infrastructure in the Małaszewicze transhipment area and the acquisition by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. shares in Cargotor sp.z o.o.

In December last year PKP Cargo has signed a letter of intent with PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe, the subject of which is the expression of interest by the companies in taking steps to acquire 100% of shares in Cargotor by PKP PLK from PKP Cargo. The parties declared that the negotiations would be completed by the end of June 2022 at the latest.
