Carrefour closes the hypermarket in the Sun Plaza mall in southern Bucharest
Carrefour is closing its store in the Sun Plaza mall in southern Bucharest next month, which it had purchased from Cora, saying that the mall is being remodeled, and this means freeing up space for a long period of time, and therefore “can no longer ensure the continuity of the shopping experience.”
The store in Sun Plaza is a former Cora. The area is large, the store has about 12,000 square meters. Carrefour has massively reduced the area of another Cora store after the takeover, Cora Lujerului in the west of the city. Thus, when it reopened it last fall under the Carrefour brand, the store was left with a sales area of 7,656 square meters, being over 6,300 square meters smaller than the former Cora that opened its doors in 2005.
