GARBE Austria hires Franz Kastner as new Managing Director and pushes ahead with Austria expansion

GARBE Industrial Real Estate GmbH (“GARBE”), specialists for logistics, light industrial and technology properties in Germany and other countries in Europe, is moving ahead with its expansion plans for Austria. Franz Kastner (39) was appointed as Managing Director of GARBE Industrial Real Estate Austria, a subsidiary formed in 2022. Prior to his new job at GARBE, Kastner worked for CBRE Austria for more than twelve years. As team head in the industrial and logistics real estate segment, he played an instrumental role in the professionalisation of Austria’s logistics real estate market.

The GARBE Austria team is further reinforced by Maximilian Grantner, another specialist for properties and lettings transferring from CBRE, and by Matthias Strobl, previously working as investment manager for LLB Immo Kapitalanlagegesellschaft mbH. These three are joining Jennifer Schödl and Maximilian Rameis, who have been working for GARBE in Austria as technical project developer and commercial project developer, respectively.

Franz Kastner, the new Managing Director of GARBE Austria, said: “After twelve successful years with CBRE in the field of industrial and logistics real estate, I'm looking forward to my new role as property developer and investor, and to exciting projects in Austria. We are specifically planning to shift the focus more toward the support for occupiers, and to implement both rental and ownership solutions on greenfield and brownfield properties.”

Maik Zeranski, Head of Project Development GARBE: “In Austria, we are in the process of developing the new company site of about 28,000 sqm for Amann Girrbach in Mäder (Vorarlberg) and a speculative development of 42,000 sqm in Kottingbrunn (Lower Austria). In addition, we manage another five properties in the Vienna and Linz metro areas, so that our assets under management add up to a total floor area of 210,000 sqm and a total volume of 220 million euros. With its latest members aboard now, the team will steadily expand this portfolio in the years ahead.”
