The manufacturer of insulating materials Knauf Insulation will modernize the Gecsat mineral wool factory in Târnăveni, Mureș county, through a project worth almost EUR 140 million, for which it requested a state aid of EUR 18.2 million.

The company signed the takeover of Gecsat at the beginning of the year, and the Competition Council approved the transaction in May. The acquisition aims to support deliveries to Knauf Insulation customers in the ever-growing markets of Romania, Eastern Europe and the Independent States. "Meanwhile, the manufacturing facility has undergone extensive retrofitting and upgrading to meet Knauf Insulation quality standards," the company said.
