OMV Petrom, Romania’s leading hydrocarbons and fuel producer, is set to build a photovoltaic park at its Petrobrazi refinery. The planned solar facility will have an installed capacity of 7.15 MW, with the generated electricity designated for the refinery’s internal use. This initiative aims to lower the refinery’s carbon footprint and enhance its energy efficiency.

The project will involve the installation of photovoltaic panels, inverters, and the construction of substations along with an electrical interconnection station. The investment decision, finalized in June, is valued at EUR 560 million. OMV Petrom may also benefit from state aid through the EU Modernization Fund to support this renewable energy venture.
