One United Properties has officially announced the commencement of construction for the highly anticipated Mondrian Hotel in Bucharest, with completion projected for 2026.

The Mondrian Bucharest will feature 103 elegantly designed rooms and suites, each inspired by Petre Ispirescu’s beloved fairytale “Youth Without Age and Life Without Death.” The innovative design, crafted by Lemon Interior Design, promises a unique atmosphere that seamlessly blends contemporary aesthetics with rich local cultural heritage. This distinctive concept aims to provide guests with an immersive and unparalleled experience.

“We are thrilled to advance with this special project in our portfolio. The building permit enables us to move forward with the construction phase,” said Riad Abi Haidar, partner and CEO of the Hotel Division at One United Properties. “The hotel’s bold, modern aesthetics and playful decor will celebrate Bucharest’s rich local culture, establishing the Mondrian Bucharest as a visual landmark in the city. We expect this unique hotel to elevate the entire guest journey and enhance local cultural engagement, positioning Bucharest as a premier destination for tourism. Our team is dedicating significant effort to every aspect of the project, meticulously examining every detail to ensure Mondrian Bucharest stands out as a truly unique destination.”

Mondrian Bucharest is a key element of One United Properties’ restoration portfolio, which includes the revitalization of four previously abandoned buildings. These buildings will be reintroduced to the public as One Gallery, One Athenee, Mondrian Bucharest, and One Downtown. The total value of this ambitious portfolio has grown to 260 million euros, marking the most significant private sector investment in Romania dedicated to the restoration of historical and industrial landmarks.
