Quadoro Completes Wind Power Project in Saarland
Construction of the wind turbine managed by Quadoro GmbH in Perl, Saarland, was finished on schedule in July 2024 in collaboration with project developer juwi GmbH. Construction of the Vestas V150 turbine, which has a capacity of 5.6 MW, began in January 2024. This wind power project serves to expand the existing Perl-Renglischberg wind farm.
On 23 August 2024, the wind turbine fed its first kilowatt-hour of climate-friendly electricity into the grid. With a hub height of 166 metres and a rotor diameter of 150 metres, it generates enough electricity to supply more than 5,600 households with green energy for a year. By using this renewable energy source, the wind farm saves the equivalent of around 11,400 tons of CO2 a year as compared to conventionally generated power.
Tobias Reber, the project manager at Quadoro GmbH, commented on the project's completion: “The commissioning of the Perl wind turbine marks an important milestone for Quadoro. This is the first wind turbine we have under our direct management. The location has already proven itself, and we are pleased to have realized the project together with renowned partners like juwi and Vestas. The successful implementation of this project demonstrates the importance of strong partnerships in advancing the transition to climate friendly energy.”
Christian Arnold, managing director at juwi responsible for operations in Germany, added: “Wind energy makes an important contribution to climate protection and towards greater independence from fossil fuels and expensive imports. Each wind turbine is a symbol for the urgent need to expand wind energy. The expansion of renewable energy is a great opportunity for Saarland.”
Quadoro continues to focus on expanding renewable energy generation and sees projects such as Perl as a key component for a sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
