The president of Empik takes over a 51% stake in the company from Penta Investments

Ewa Szmidt-Belcarz, the current president of the management board of Empik Group, takes over a controlling 51% stake in the company from Penta Investments, Empik reported.

The parties to the transaction decided not to disclose its value. The closing of the transaction is subject to approval by the President of the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection.

The acquisition of the majority of shares in the Empik Group by Ewa Szmidt-Belcarz does not change the company's management structure or the company's strategy, implemented since 2015. The new leading shareholder remains the president of the management board and plans further long-term development of the entire group in cooperation with Penta Investments, it was announced.

Penta Investments remains in the company with 49% of shares and declares to continue supporting the development of individual business lines. By 2026, the planned investments will reach the level of PLN 300-350 million and will be focused mainly on organic development, but without excluding acquisitions, it was also announced.

The strategy of Empik Group is to continue investing in the development of omnichannel areas, the empik.com e-commerce platform and the subscription ecosystem, as well as digitization, automation and robotization of processes in the entire group. Investments will also be continued in the dynamically growing companies of the group - in the areas of creation and distribution of traditional and digital content, as well as in the area of ​​event discovery and sale of tickets for events. A key element of the strategy is also the sustainable expansion of the network of traditional stores and the convenience format, complementing the development of e-commerce. Ewa Szmidt-Belcarz's entry into the group of shareholders does not mean any changes for business partners, employees and other stakeholders, is was announced.

Last year, Empik Group recorded a turnover of PLN 2.4 billion, almost half of which was generated by the e-commerce and digital segment.
